5 Ways To Get Those Bright Eyes

Did you know that when you wear your glasses out of the house, you are paying to see what other people see clearly for free? It’s the most frustrating thing to deal with – poor eyesight is a burden. If you don’t wear your glasses, you’re going to end up with strained eyes and a sore head from trying to see what your eyes simply cannot see.

Eye health, like everywhere else in the body, is so important. You need to keep those peepers bright and shiny, and it’s not all eye drops for hydration. There are several things that you can do to ensure that your eyes stay healthy. Whether you are wearing a Biotrue contact lens or you plan to wear your glasses, always take the direction of your optometrist. There’s no use in being defiant and ditching the glasses if you do need them! In the meantime, here are several things that you can do to get those bright eyes that you’ve been seeking.

  • Think Of Your Diet

Before you do anything else, think about what you’re eating. Eye health starts with the food that you eat, and while you can’t cure astigmatism or long/short-sightedness by merely eating carrots, you can still make sure that your diet is balanced and healthy. Your eyes need plenty of nutrients to stay healthy and working well. Load your plate with vitamin C and E and ward off cataracts. Lots of leafy greens for you! Doing this will help you to maintain your weight, too, and this will keep your risk of diabetes away.

  • Stop Smoking

We know it’s easy just to say to quit smoking. It doesn’t mean that it’s going to be easy, but you have to do it if you want to improve your eye health. Smoking leads to optic nerve damage and macular damage, and you will be risking your sight even further if you don’t put down the cigarettes. Speak to your doctor about a stop smoking service.

  • Wear Sunglasses

The right sunglasses will keep the UV rays of the sun out of your eyes. We all know the dangers of UV exposure, and your eyes are in as much danger as your skin. Wraparound lenses are the best ones out there to protect your eyes from too much sunshine.

  • Take Regular Screen Breaks

If your job is very computer-heavy, you need to make sure that you are taking regular breaks away from the screen. You shouldn’t be staring at your smartphone all day long, either. You can risk eye strain, blurred vision, and headaches because of the exposure to too much screen time. Every 20 minutes, look away from the screen at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds: it’s the 20-20-20 rule!

  • Hydrate

Drinking enough water is so important to keep your eyes naturally moist. Moist eyes are healthy and not drying out or sticky, and enough water can ensure that your eyes are comfortable and lubricated. Don’t slow down on your water intake in the day!
