#TweetFables – Story 05-01-2018

Today, 05-01-2018, we, Ila Varma and Paresh Godhwani started a spontaneous storytelling series with the blogger fraternity with the hashtag #tweetfables.

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

The story is the spontaneous amalgamation of thoughts of different people in sync with the opening lines. The marvelous storytellers weaved two different stories with the following open lines.

One by one, the lights went out and echoing footsteps died away in the distance…

Tweetfable – I

One by one, the lights went out and echoing footsteps died away in the distance. I was scared but preferred to go in the direction of echo. There was no other way out in that haunted house. I was hoping that these footsteps will give me inmate in that house.

Chills ran down my spine, sweat down my face and my hands trembled. An unknown force was asking me to walk towards the ending footsteps. Some kind of force was driving me.

I kept on moving as if it wasn’t me at all. Never minding the everlasting darkness, screaming foxes, wind gushing and the snow falling. The darkness attracted me as it was the other part of me that was unveiled till now.

My mind knew to stop…But a voice in me kept telling me to move forward. It kept assuring and luring me ahead.

The shadow was eerie, cold and unfamiliar. It was something I have never seen before. It seemed like a person but not from the mortal world…I just stood holding my breath.

With utter fear on my mind I gathered courage to turn my head wearing my heart over my sleeves. Soon I turned and the shadow disappeared.

I was perplexed. How a nightmare could turn into a dream, or was this a beautiful reality? Had I dreamt up what I thought I had experienced? Was I dreaming now?

I turned and it meowed. Chill ran down again and what I saw in front of me? I got a lump in my throat. My wee little kitten was wagging its tail behind her. It gave a nice meow sound as if teasing me saying “I am successful in scaring the shit out of you!”

I picked up, ran and ran. I could no more hear any footsteps. No more wind gushing and snow falling.  It was a no moon day and I could hardly see anything.

I kept moving thinking whether it is a dream or a nightmare. As I went ahead, I saw a light. “Finally a ray of hope” I rushed towards it without thinking much.

A little trembling I stood up and realized that it was all the nightmare ……Happily, I enjoyed the festivities with my family, vouching not to watch a horror movie at night. That night I slept but the echo of the footsteps never left…

TweetFables II

One by one, the lights went out and echoing footsteps died away in the distance….

The echo of the footsteps died down and it was dense dark. I could not see anything further. But this did not deter me from moving towards unknown destination…I felt as if someone was calling me from a distance.

I could not understand how a fearful creature like me had suddenly developed so much of confidence. With full conviction, I was moving forward like a lone wanderer in a desert.

I stumbled but someone held me which helped me to stand straight…Sigh…

“Who is there?” “Who is there?” No reply came forth. A screeching shrill disturbed the eerie silence of the night and a faint bulb glowed at the other end.

I lost all the courage and started running without thinking about in which direction I am heading. When I stopped, I saw a shadow on the wall in front of me.

For a moment I thought, is it a real shadow or just a mental imagination? I wasn’t sure if I was in the real state of mind. Fear had a strong grip.

Was it shadow or was I hallucinating? I shrieked with fear n fainted then n there. When I opened my eyes, I was in my living room surrounded by my friend’s n family. One by one the lights turned on…and I was amazed to see the decoration of lights n flowers done.

A loud clap thundered the living room and others joined in and my Father played my favourite song on the piano congratulating me for my promotion which wasn’t disclosed by me.

“Is this the way to congratulate me” I asked them.

“I was utterly scared you all are taking as fun, not fair.”

I was scared, surprised, and happy all at the same time. While giving my father a hug I was wondering who told him about my promotion. Then I saw my friend Rishika behind him. Then I understood that Rishika planned that whole thing.

Rishika was watching me with squinted eyes.

“Hey, you…how can you be so stubborn….wait for your turn” I whispered.

“Just as you acted, you kept such information as confidential from me & Uncle. Your boss told me & we planned.

You say, “I am brave” We tested.

“You failed” Rishika teased me.

My reaction was mixed. I hugged my father and his blessings comforted me & tears of happiness welled up.

“Beta, we are there with you, celebrating with family means a lot. We did it to amuse you & drift you from the pressure of work, Look at the flowers, they smile Even if they know that they will perish tomorrow.” A wide smile sailed on her face and she forgot all the mess.

Being a writer, off and on, ideas flare up and this year on the eve of Rakshabandhan, an idea sprang to introduce a Blog train on the topic Sibling and unravel the glorious time spent with the siblings.
A bond which appears inseparable in childhood days but with the passage of time, obligations of family, job, and marriage drift us apart. The emotional bonding continues but we miss the frictions, petty fights, being partner in crime, competition, fun, plays etc. We meet after a long interval and try to be coherent with each other. Rationalization in relationships mars the innocence and never ever the days come back when we cribbed at each other, fought with Mom that he/she was more loved, partnered in mischief etc.
This blog journey will help us to cherish those moments once again to bring back our lost innocence and a wide smile on our faces reminiscing those unforgettable moments.
The first participant of the series #SiblingStories, #SiblingStories is Misha Jain.

Story Time #Colgate Strong Teeth

I received four packs of Colgate Strong Teeth with Free Magical Sea World inside from Colgate.I have grown up kids so I distributed them to my close relatives whose kids are school going and one of them rolled out the story. Here it is.

One day Piku was feeling sad & lonely. He was the single
child of his parents & parents were working. After school, he was all alone.
He was sitting in garden gazing at the sky, his thoughts wandering. He felt his
chair wobble and felt a soft tap on his shoulder. When he lifted his eye, he
saw a beautiful angel standing staring at him and passing a sweet smile.

“Why are you sad, Piku?” Angel asked.

“You know my name, Angel?” Piku asked with startled
expression.

“Yes, I know and I am here to play with you. You won’t feel
lonely and sad.” The angel said.

“Come with me, I will show you the magical world and
numerous friends to play with and I am sure you will enjoy.” She said.

“How can I go with you? My parents won’t allow?” Piku told
her.

“You don’t have to go anywhere. Just close your eyes Piku
& wait till I ask you to open. Don’t worry. You are safe with me. I am your
friend.” Angel said
“Open your eyes Piku” A sweet voice whispered.

“Wow, what a beautiful lavish Castle. I am amazed. Thank You
Angel.” Piku said but he did not find the angel, instead he saw a beautiful fish Mermaid holding his hand.

“Who are you? Where is my Angel?” Piku asked surprisingly.

“I am the Angel. I have brought you in my kingdom and here I
am in the figure of Mermaid. This is our Magical Sea World. See around, you
will find all the creatures of underwater world. This is our Underwater Castle.
This Shark whale will give you a free enjoyable ride and take you on tour to
our world and you can play with them as much as you want.” The Mermaid told
Piku.

“Shark whale, take Piku around and show him our world. He is
our guest, so take good care of him and make his trip memorable.” The Mermaid
said to Shark whale.

“Come Piku, sit on my back and let’s roam and play.” The
Shark whale said.

“Piku, Keep this Treasure Map with you, if you miss the way,
you can reach safe by following the map.” The Mermaid handed over the map to
Piku.

Piku kept it safely in his pocket. The Mermaid wrapped a cover
around Piku’s body to keep his body warm while swimming in chilly water.

Piku sat on the back of the Shark whale and the Shark whale
took off with a thrust.
Indeed it was a wonderful underwater world and he was
astounded by the beauty. It was a colourful magical world, colourful fishes
swimming around and singing sweet songs. The music of the land was ethereal and
he felt very happy to watch them so close.

“Piku, alight from my back and roam around. The creatures of
this world will host a welcome program in your honour. You are our supreme
guest.” Shark whale said & stooped low to alight Piku.

There was greenery all around and the soft grasses caressed
his toes. He wandered in the garden freely, beautiful flowers were in full bloom,
butterflies with lights flickered around.

The colourful fishes sang a welcome song and the octopus and
the crabs shook their hinges on the tune.

The tortoise trailed like a train. The queen tortoise led
around Piku riding on her back.
Piku was very happy and clapped for the show and thanked the
wonderful creatures addressing them as his friends.

After the show, Shark whale told Piku to accompany her back
to the palace.

“Whale, I want to take some flowers.” Piku said.

“No Dear, you can’t. In our kingdom, you can see and play
but cannot hurt someone. See, no one hurt you and so you cannot hurt them.” The
Shark whale explained.

“Can’t we stay for some more time? It will be my pleasure.” Piku asked.

“Come on, let’s go back Piku. The gates of the Castle close
at night and we will be stranded outside. There are wonderful things inside the
palace, the Mermaid will treat you.” The Shark whale explained Piku.

Shark whale twisted her tail and took off for way back.

She stopped outside Castle and showed a close view of the Castle.

Piku was amazed by the enchanting view of the palatial Castle  with
high rising towers illuminated with colourful dimmed lights and it looked
heavenly and pleasant to eyes.
“Thank You Whale for riding me to the magical sea world.”
Piku said.

“Piku, now it is time to return back to your world. Close your
eyes.” The Mermaid said smiling.

“Open your eyes Piku, you are back to your world.” A sweet
voice whispered.

His chair wobbled and he was back in his garden. He felt happy
and was delighted.

This beautiful story was carved by my nephew with the help
of Colgate Magical Sea World Cover which tickled his imagination and he stroked
it beautifully.

I thanked him and cooked his favourite dish as a treat for
the wonderful story. He smiled sheepishly and when I asked him to laugh out
loud, he did but the stained teeth could not go unnoticed.

I gifted him a pack of Colgate Strong Teeth and asked him to
sparkle his teeth just like his sparkling story and to weave one more from the
pictures inside the cover.
